Biodun Okeowo tribute to mother: Nollywood actress pens emotional message on the 7th anniversary of her mother’s passing
Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late mother, marking the seventh anniversary of her passing with a heartfelt message reflecting on grief, gratitude and enduring love.
Biodun Okeowo posted the touching letter on her Instagram page, describing the loss of her mother as a painful experience that continues to feel fresh despite the passage of time.
The actress wrote that losing a mother leaves “a space that never closes and an injury that never heals,” adding that the memory of the moment she was informed of her mother’s death remains vivid.
Reflecting on her mother’s sacrifices, Biodun Okeowo said many of the dreams her mother prayed for are now beginning to materialise, but lamented that the woman who supported her most did not live to witness the breakthrough.
The actress recalled how her mother stepped in during difficult periods of her life, helping to raise her children when she was a young single mother struggling to find stability.
According to Biodun Okeowo, her mother encouraged her to pursue education and focus on building a better future while she took on the responsibility of caring for the family.
“Mummy, you worked but did not wait to eat,” she wrote, questioning why her mother passed away just as life was beginning to improve.
The actress also shared an emotional memory involving her first child, recalling how both her mother and son cried when he travelled abroad to Canada, fearing they might not see each other again.
Her mother died two years after that moment.
Despite the lingering pain, Biodun Okeowo said the loss strengthened her faith and brought her closer to God, noting that her mother’s prayers, strength and guidance continue to shape her life.
She concluded the message by thanking God for the privilege of having her mother and praying for her soul to continue resting in peace.
The actress’s tribute comes amid a wave of similar remembrance messages from Nigerian celebrities honouring late parents.
Actor Nosa Rex recently marked the fourth anniversary of his father’s death, while actress Funke Akindele also commemorated the third remembrance of her mother.
Other stars, including IK Ogbonna, Biola Bayo, and former Big Brother Naija housemate Liquorose, have also shared personal reflections on the loss of their parents in recent months.
